Cardinal Advincula recovers from COVID-19

Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula announced that he has already recovered from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a video message, Advincula expressed his gratitude to the people who prayed for his recovery.

“Kasama ako sa mahigit dalawang milyong Pilipino na nagka-COVID-19. Naranasan ko din ang takot at hirap ng pagkakasakit. Salamat sa Diyos, sa Mahal na Birheng Maria, at San Jose gumaling ako mula sa karamdamang ito (I am one of the more than two million Filipinos who contracted COVID-19. I also experienced the fear and hardship of being sick. I thank God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and St. Joseph, I was able to recover from this disease),” said Advincula.

"Nais kong magpasalamat sa inyong lahat, sa mga nagdasal para sa akin lalo na sa mga pari, religious men and women, at mga laiko sa Archdiocese of Manila (I want to thank all of you, those who prayed for me especially the priests, religious men and women, and laity in the Archdiocese of Manila),” he added.

To note, the Archdiocese of Manila announced last Sept. 17 that Advincula tested positive for COVID-19.

“Nais kong pasalamatan ang mga doktor at healthcare workers na sumubaybay sa akin (I want to thank the doctors and healthcare workers who took care of me),” he furthered.

The prelate believes that he was able to recover from the viral illness through the help of the vaccine.

"Napatunayan ko na malaking bagay ang bakuna upang malabanan ang COVID-19 kaya hinihikayat ko ang lahat na magpabakuna para sa inyong kaligtasan at para sa kaligtasan ng ibang tao (I was able to prove that the vaccine is a big help to fight COVID-19, so I encourage everyone to get vaccinated for your safety and for the safety of other people)," he said.

Advinclula urged the public to continue to pray for the safety of everyone, especially the healthcare workers and adhere to the minimum public health standards.

“Patuloy natin ipanalangin ang may sakit at mga frontliners. Sundin natin ang mga health protocols at magpabakuna. Sa awa ng Diyos, malalagpasan din natin ang pandemyang ito (Let us continue to pray for the sick and frontliners. Let's follow health protocols and get vaccinated. With God's mercy, we can overcome this pandemic),” he said.
