3 QC centenarians receive cash gifts

Three centenarians received P100,000 cash each from the Quezon City local government on Saturday.

This is the city government's way of celebrating the Elderly Filipino Week.

Mayor Joy Belmonte and the Office for the Senior Citizens Affairs of Quezon City (OSCA) handed the cash gift, fruit baskets, and certificates to the relatives of the centenarians.

According to Belmonte, 100-year old seniors will also receive a monthly allowance, birthday and Christmas gifts.

At the same time, she also gave a P5,000 Death Benefits Welfare Assistance to 30 bereaved families of senior citizens.

Belmonte said that under City Ordinance 2544-2016, families of deceased senior citizens may apply for death benefits three months after death.
