Chiz Escudero runs for senator in May 2022 polls

Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero is seeking a comeback in the Senate as he filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator on Friday, Oct. 1

Lawyer George Garcia filed Escudero’s COC on his behalf, a copy of which was shown to the media.

Escudero previously served as senator from from 2007 to 2019.

He also ran for the vice presidency in 2016 under Senator Grace Poe’s ticket.

In the recent Pulse Asia Survey, the 51-year-old politician ranked third among the most preferred possible senatorial candidates.

The former lawmaker was also a member of the House of Representatives from 1998 to 2007, representing the first district of Sorsogon

Based on his COC, Escudero was nominated Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).

Escudero, a lawyer, is married to actress and socialite Heart Evangelista.
