Reelectionist Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto files COC

Mayor Victor “Vico” Sotto filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for a second term as mayor of Pasig City at the Commission on Elections; (Comelec) local office in Pasig City on Friday, Oct. 1.

Sotto was accompanied by his parents, Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes.

Politician and former basketball player Robert “Dodot" Jaworski is running as Sotto’s Vice Mayor in the elections.

Sotto is running for his second term as mayor after ending the decades-long rule of the Eusebio clan in 2019.

Sotto explained that since 2019, from the start of his term as a mayor of Pasig, almost One Billion pesos (P1,000,0000,000.00) every year are saved by the Pasig government in projects led by the Local Government Unit(LGU).

“Ang hiling ko lang sa inyo, bigyan niyo ako ng mga kasanggang mapagkakatiwalaan natin. Yung hindi puwesto o pera ang habol, kundi yung magiging katuwang kopara paigtingin pa ang mga reporma't serbisyo ng pamahalaan ( My only request to you is to give me partners that we can trust . Someone who is not chasing a job or money, but the one who will be my partner to intensify government reforms and services),” Sotto said in his Facebook post.

Amidst the pandemic, Sotto assured each Pasigueño that they will experience the improving service of the Pasig City Government.

Before this, Sotto was also hailed as one of the 12 International Anticorruption Champions by the US Department of State on February 24.

The US Department praised the efforts of Sotto against the corruption on projects and transactions of the city.

“Sotto has sought to solidify his reputation as a fresh voice with a new, more transparent approach to governance. He pledged to avoid any kickbacks in the awarding of city contracts, established a 24/7 public information and complaints hotline, formally involved civil society organizations in the city’s budgeting and policymaking, and mandated that the value of all city government contracts be reduced by at least 10 percent – a measure intended to reduce bribery in the contract awarding process,” the US State Department said.

During the pandemic outbreak, the Pasig city government was also praised for its proactive vaccination efforts toward its citizens against COVID-19.

Under the governance of Sotto, The Pasig City also managed to purchase disinfectant drones to help the city against COVID-19 Outbreak.

On 2020, Sotto managed to launch his Tulong At Pampuhunang Ayuda para sa Taga-Pasig (TAPAT) project which aimed to support the local business citizens of Pasig City by providing loan, The LGU allocated P200,000,000 to assist 40,000 beneficiaries.

Sotto submitted his Certificate of Candicacy (COC) in pursuit of his second term as the mayor of Pasig.
