Mayor Rex files COC for congressman; Rep. Wes for Valenzuela city mayor

Incumbent Valenzuela City Mayor Rexlon “Rex” Gatchalian has filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for congressman of the 1st District of Valenzuela City while his brother Weslie "Wes" Gatchalian filed his for the mayoralty post in the same city at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office in Valenzuela on Friday, Oct. 1.

They were accompanied by their brother, Senator Win Gatchalian, who offered to run for Vice President if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte decides to run for President in the 2022 elections.

Rex was elected as representative of the 1st District of Valenzuela City in 2007. He was re-elected as Valenzuela's 1st District representative in 2010.

In 2013, Rex won his first term as city mayor.

Wes began his political career in the 16th Congress as representative of the Alay Buhay Partylist.
