I'm not Duterte's secret candidate – Mayor Isko

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno" Domagoso dismissed on Friday rumors that he is a “secret candidate” of President Duterte.

Domgoso said the people peddling such rumors are likely “high on drugs.”

“Hindi po totoo yon. Ito naman malayang bansa. Kala ko ba bawal ang drugs. Ano kaya tinira ‘non? (That’s not true. Anyway, this is a democratic country. I thought illegal drugs are prohibited. What kind of drug did they take?),” Moreno told the media after leading the oath-taking of nearly 50 local officials and candidates of Aksyon Demokratiko.

Domagoso reiterated that he is running under Aksyon Demokratiko, where he currently serves as party president.

“Kami ay kandidato ng Aksyon Demokratiko na nag-apply sa tao, bilang inyong Pangulo, ang inyong lingkod, at bilang Pangalawang Pangulo, at sampu sa aming mga kasamahang Senador, at mga Konsehal, Governor, Congressman, Vice Mayor, Mayor at mga Board Member (We are candidates of Aksyon Demokratiko who have applied to the people as your President, as Vice President, together with our Senators, Councilors, and Board Members),” he said.

Prior to the issue, Domagoso was criticized for rushing to become the country’s president.

The 46-year-old mayor and his running mate Dr. Willie Ong are set to file their certificate of candidacy on Oct. 4.
