The hashtags #WithdrawIsko and #LabanLeni2022 trended on Twitter after Vice President Leni Robredo announced her presidential bid in the 2022 elections on Thursday, Oct. 7..
Twitter users called on Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso to run for vice president instead of running for president in the May 2022 elections.
"#WithdrawIsko. Run for VP instead. Help us unite the opposition para sa bayan," @mrkgio wrote in a tweet.
Other Twitter users believed that Domagoso should run as Robredo's running mate.
"For everyone's sake, mag VP ka na lang ni Madam Leni. I think that will be better. #WithdrawIsko," @LunaAlyeska wrote in a tweet.
"Sir please @IskoMoreno! We want you to be our Vice President. The road's still long, we'll have you as President after this if it's right. I can see what you did here in Manila and I salute you sir. For now, listen to the people. #WithdrawIsko," @DanteBatumbakal wrote in a tweet.
"No statement as of now," Domagoso's media campaign director, Julius Leonen said when asked to comment on the trending hashtags.
After Robredo officially announced her presidential bid, she filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) filling venue at Sofitel Harbor Garden Tents in Pasay City on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Domagoso, on the other hand, filed his COC on Monday, Oct. 4, along with his running mate vice presidential candidate Dr. Willie Ong.
