Senator Pangilinan vies for vice presidency

Senator Francis “Kiko” N. Pangilinan, who is the current president of the Liberal Party (LP), filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for vice president at the Sofitel Harbor Garden Tents in Pasay City on Thursday, Oct.8.

He was accompanied by Vice President Leni Robredo, his running mate, who filed her COC for president on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 7.

Pangilinan is running under the banner Liberal Party, while Robredo has declared on her COC that she is an independent candidate.

After filing his COC, the vice presidential aspirant opted not to give a speech at the venue.

On Wednesday, Oct.6, he postponed his scheduled filing of candidacy for senator after learning that Vice President Leni Robredo will be announcing her political decision on Thursday.

Robredo announced that she has decided to run for president in the 2022 polls on Thursday, Oct. 7.

On Sept. 30, Pangilinan announced that he will be seeking re-election which was posted on his official Facebook page.

Currently, Pangilinan is serving his third term as senator. In 2001, he was first elected and was re-elected anew in 2007.
