MG Philippines unveils the new ZST SUV

Turbocharge your drive

The latest addition to the MG Philippines lineup, the ZST, is here. The ”T” represents “Trophy” as this is their new highest-spec variant of their popular ZS crossover SUV. The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) distributor of MG in the Philippines virtually launched the newest model earlier this week.

Styling

Up front, chrome and brushed aluminum has given way to more gloss black accents on the ZST. It has a redesigned front end with a wider air dam and sporty scoops where the fog lights are. There’s a new Obsidian Matrix grille, flanked by full-LED projector headlights and DRL’s with a new look. The rear also underwent a redesign with new bumper, refreshed brake light combination and dual exhaust tips. It has “Tomahawk” design two tone 17-inch alloy wheels with low profile 215/55 tires with red brake calipers.

Powerplant

The “T” in ZST also means “Turbo” and what sets it apart from the regular ZS is its turbocharged three–cylinder 1.3 liter engine that puts out max power of 160-Hp between 5200-5600 rpm with 230-Nm torque between 1800-4400 rpm. This is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual sports mode.

Interior

The interior is premium with the steering wheel, dashboard, center console, door panels, and other high-contact areas appointed with soft touch materials. Seats and trim get red stitching, red embroidered MG on the driver and passenger seat headrests add to the interior’s refreshed look. The ZST’s six-speaker infotainment system has a 10.1-inch non-reflective HD touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Rear passenger comfort is assured with rear air conditioner vents. There are numerous storage compartments around the cabin and USB ports for charging and connection to the infotainment system.

Safety

The ZST is equipped with a suite of passive and active safety features. Front, side and curtain airbags are standard equipment. New driver assist features are the Rear Cross-Traffic Assist, Lane Change Assist and Cornering Lamps in the fog lamps. It’s also equipped with Hill Hold Control, Cornering Brake Control, Traction Control, and Vehicle Dynamics Control. The intelligent 360-degree cam works with the Blind Spot Information System allowing you a bird’s eye view of the vehicle and surroundings in slow traffic or while parking.

“When we launched the MG brand in 2018, our goal was clear: to be part of the exciting and growing Philippine automotive market, and to provide Filipinos with stylish, modern, and safe vehicles — but at very attainable price points,” said Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla, President and CEO of MG Philippines.

He goes on to say, “The local market’s reception has been very encouraging indeed. In just three years, more Filipinos have chosen MG, and there are now over ten thousand MG’s on our roads, with several of those being the ever-popular ZS Crossover SUV.”

The new MG ZST is priced at P1,158,888.00. You can make reservations at MG dealerships nationwide or online at BuyAnMG.com.
