Vice President Leni Robredo is running for president in the May 2022 polls.

Robredo filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for president Thursday, Oct. 7 hours after announcing her presidential bid.

The vice president filed her COC as an independent candidate before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) at Sofitel Tent in Pasay City.

She was accompanied by her daughters Aika and Tricia.

Other known personalities who filed their COCs days before include Senators Manny Pacquiao and Panfilo Lacson, former senator Bongbong Marcos, former defense secretary Norberto Gonzales, and labor leader Leody De Guzman.

On Wednesday, leaders of the Akbayan Party endorsed Robredo as their presidential bet in next year's election.

In a statement, the Akbayan leaders said that Robredo is the "genuine democratic alternative who can end 'Dutertismo', thwart the complete return of the Marcoses to power and return the country to the path of democracy."

Robredo was also endorsed earlier by the opposition coalition 1Sambayan.
