Rep. Defensor vows to address pandemic-related issues if he wins as QC mayor

Representative Michael "Mike" Defensor vowed to effectively address the problems brought by the pandemic in Quezon City if he wins as mayor in the 2022 elections.

Defensor filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Quezon City on Thursday, Oct. 7.

During the gathering of Team Malayang Quezon City, the mayoral candidate said that he will effectively resolve issues in education, health, and livelihood.

"Trabaho ni Mike Defensor na mabigyan ng direksyon kung ano ang dapat nating gawin para sa lungsod ng Quezon (It's Mike Defensor's job to give direction on what we should do for Quezon City)," Defensor said.

"Not only to face the pandemic, but how we can mobilize everyone. Paano natin aayusin lahat para naman mabuhay ang ating mga kababayan (How can we fix everything so that the people can live)" he added

Defensor said that he will also focus on helping those who lost their jobs because of the COVID-19 plague.

He said he plans to increase emergency employment to assist the displaced workers.

"Ngayon kailangan makita ng tao ang gobyerno. Habang sila'y gutom, habang may pandemya, habang may sakit, dapat ang lider tumayo, nagtatrabaho, tumutulong sa tao (Now, the people need to see the government. While they are hungry, while there is a pandemic, while there is sickness, the leader must stand up, work, help them)," he added.

In September, Defensor claimed that the food packs provided by the QC government during the pandemic are overpriced. (Aaron Dioquino)
