"Lannie" leaves 2 dead in Western Visayas


Tropical depression Lannie left at least two people dead and more than P12 million worth of damage in Western Visayas.

But the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said the two reported fatalities are still for verification and the damage assessment is still on-going.

Based on the OCD report released on Thursday, Oct. 7, both the fatalities died of drowning at the height of the onslaught of "Lannie".

The first casualty was reporte din Barangay Salong, Balasan in Iloilo province wherein the victim drowned while crossing a river. The victim was reproted missing on October 4 and the cadaver was recovered the following day.

The second fatality was from Barangay Sto. Niño, Dumalag town of Capiz.

"Lannie" triggered flooding in various parts of the Visayas which damaged agriculture products. The reported P12 million damage was only for Western Visayas.
