ILOILO CITY— Mayor Jerry Treñas, Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon and Cong. Julienne “Jam-jam” Baronda are seeking reelection in this city.
The trio and their allies attended Eucharistic mass before the filing of their certificates of candidacy (COCs) at the Commission on Elections (Comelec-Iloilo City) Wednesday, October 6.
“When I was 15, I had a vision, a dream of a progressive metro the Ilonggos will be proud of. For the past decades, I was privileged to work on this dream, and I will continue to do so as long as my people trust and support me,” said the mayor in a statement.

Joining the trio were their lineup for seats at the Iloilo City Council including incumbent Iloilo City Councilors Rommel Duron, Ely Estante, Rudolph Ganzon, Jojo Javellana, Frances Parcon, and Allan Zaldivar.
Dr. Urminico Baronda Jr., Atty. Sedfrey Cabaluna, Atty. Rex Sarabia, Barangay Capt. Eric David, Johnny Young, and Miguel Treñas also filed their COCs.
It is unclear whether there’s a strong opposition party in Iloilo City right now.
Mayor Treñas defeated then incumbent mayor Jose “Joe III” Espinosa, his brother-in-law, during the May 2019 elections.
Espinosa has announced he intends to run for congressman in the city’s lone district.
Former city councilors Joshua Alim, Lyndon Acap and Plaridel Nava II have announced their intention to run.
