Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has urged Filipinos to conduct their own “investigation in aid of election” as they choose the country’s next leaders in the upcoming May 2022 national elections.
Dela Rosa said the Filipino electorate should thoroughly peruse the credentials and scrutinize a candidate, especially those running for president, and assess their capability to lead the country in the next six years.
“I hope that in the elections in 2022, we will choose the right persons who will lead the nation, that is only one person,” Dela Rosa said in an online interview.
“Don’t be easily swayed by what you hear by other people. Make a thorough research on the candidates vying to be our president,” said the senator, who is an known ally of the Duterte administration.
He said voters have the duty to diligently scrutinize the character of all candidates for president in order not to make any mistake.
The former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, and who staunchly supported and implemented the Duterte administration’s war on drugs, also said the people should not just rely on the propaganda of any candidate.
“Let’s not be swayed by these propaganda...The lives and the future of our children are at stake here,” he further said.
“Study the character of a candidate and see if that bet deserves the vote,” Dela Rosa reiterated.
