6 Pasay City cops arrested for obstruction of justice

Six policemen detailed at the Pasay City Police Sub-Station 10 were relieved from their posts after releasing a Chinese national despite the discovery of ammunition inside his car last week.

Major Crisanto Racoma, Lt. Noelson Garcera, SSgtJohnvir Tagaca, Cpls. Jayson Lunas, Jerson Bauzon and Christian Cadingan, all assigned to Pasay City Sub-Station 10 at Mall of Asia, were transferred to the Pasay City Police Admin Holding Area, according to a police report on Oct. 6.

Col. Cesar Paday-os, Pasay City police chief, ordered the confiscation of the cops’ service firearms.

Paday-os said he received a text message from the office of National Capital Region Police Office director Major Gen. Vicente Danao informing him about the offense committed by the said cops.

Based on the Oct. 2 report, the six cops, who were then conducting Oplan Sita, apprehended a Chinese national for driving without license.

The policemen found inside the Chinese man’s Ford Mustang a roni kit for a short firearm, several live bullets for a 9mm pistol, and personal belongings such as a Rolex watch, cellular phones, a laptop, and cash.

The six policemen reportedly allowed the Chinese man to leave after issuing him an official violation receipt, without filing illegal possession of ammunition charges against him.

Paday-os, after learning of the incident, told the six policemen to report to his office where they were arrested at 12:30 p.m. last Wednesday.

He said the cops were charged with obstruction of justice at the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.
