DAVAO CITY — Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio thanked the teachers who molded and guided her to become the person that she is today as the Philippines joins the observance of the World Teachers’ Day and celebrates locally the National Teachers’ Day.
“Teacher ko, (S)Hero ko. Kung hindi po dahil sa inyo, kulang ang kaalaman ko (My teacher, my (s) hero),” Mayor Sara wrote in her Facebook page that.
The city mayor then paid tribute to the country’s teachers, who continue to dispense their duties to look after the welfare of their students amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Salamat sa puso niyo sa paglilingkod, kahit pa may pandemya; at sa sakripisyo niyo para sa mga eskwela, pamilya at sa mahal nating bansa,” Mayor Sara said.
In a recorded video message, which she likewise shared on Facebook, Mayor Sara lauded the teachers for their resilience and tenacity amid the adversities as they strive to maintain the good quality of education for their students.
Mayor Sara said that the teachers have allowed the education sector to continuously function in carrying out their mission to protect and promote the right of every Filipino to quality, equitable, culture based, and complete basic education in these trying times.
“With the theme “Gurong Pilipino: Katuwang sa Hamon, Kasama sa Pagbangon,” it is my hope that we may continue to count on your support as we face the challenges ahead and share in our vision to create better opportunities for learning as we build a more progressive community in the new normal,” said Mayor Sara.
