His vice mayor is Barangay Captain Peter Marzan of Magtanggol, the president of the Liga ng mga Barangay in Pateros, who also filed his COC together with Ponce.

According to Armando Mallorca, head of Comelec-Pateros, 15 candidates filed their COCs on Oct. 6 as of this writing: one for mayor, one for vice mayor, eight for councilor in District 1 and five for council in District 2. From Oct. 1 to 5, three candidates filed their COCs for councilor in Pateros.

Ponce won his first term as mayor in the 2016 election, defeating actress Daisy Reyes. He was reelected in 2019 against Willie Buenaventura. Ponce got 18,370 votes, or 68 percent against Buenaventura’s 8,775 votes, or 32 percent.

He recently joined the Aksyon Demokratiko party, which is supporting Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Dr. Willie Ong as presidential and vice presidential candidates, respectively.

The positions up for grabs in Pateros are mayor, vice mayor, and six seats for councilors in each of the municipality’s two districts

Candidates have until Oct. 8 to file their COCs. Comelec-Pateros reminded that each candidate is allowed to have a maximum of two companions in the filing of COC. Their temperature will be checked and they need to fill out a health declaration form.
