Go on Bongbong-Bong tandem: I can work with anyone

"I can work with anyone."

This was the response by Senator Christopher ‘’Bong’’ Go, a vice presidential candidate, to reports circulating that a ‘’Bongbong-Bong’’ tandem for the presidency and vice presidency in the 2022 national elections is possible.

‘’Mula noon hanggang ngayon, walang pili naman po ang pagseserbisyo ko sa tao (I have never chosen who would be my compatriot in serving the people). Rerespetuhin ko kung sino ang ihahalal ng taumbayan sa pagka-pangulo (I will respect whoever would be chosen by the people as President),’’ he explained.

This followed the filing before noon today of former Senator Ferdinand ‘’Bongbong’’ R. Marcos Jr. of his certificate of candidacy (COC) with the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Instead of President Duterte filing his COC as vice president representing the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino (PDP)-Laban party (Cusi wing), Go filed last weekend his COC as a vice presidential bet of the Cusi wing.

Both Duterte and Go belong to the Cusi wing.

Thus, the possible Bongbong-Duterte tandem was aborted.

Young Marcos revealed that he had planned to adopt and field Duterte as his running mate but this did not happen.

If chosen by the people, Go said he would be a working Vice President.

He said he would do everything to serve the people not only in words but also in action.

‘’Hindi ako magiging spare tire o reserba lamang (I will not be a spare tire),’’ he added.

As an official and candidate of PDP-Laban, Go said he said he is one with his partymates in continuing the good programs and reform programs initiated by President Duterte.

‘’We will support a Presidential candidate who can push for the continuity that the people want,’’ he stressed.

“Nabanggit ko rin noon pa na hindi ako tatakbong pangulo kung hindi si Pangulong Duterte ang Vice President. Iyon ang dahilan kung bakit nagdesisyon ako na tumakbo bilang Vice President (I have also mentioned then that I will not run for president if my Vice President is not President Duterte. That is the reason why I am running now for Vice President),” he said.

“Sa mga minamahal kong kababayan, maraming salamat po sa patuloy na paniniwala at suporta ninyo sa amin ni Pangulo at sa buong administrasyong Duterte. Patuloy nating iparamdan sa bawat sulok ng bansa ang mga magagandang programa at pagbabagong inumpisahan at ginagawa ng administrasyong ito (To my beloved countrymen, thank you very much for your continued trust and support for me and the President and for the whole Duterte administration. We will continue to bring to every corner of the country the beautiful programs and reforms started by this administration),” Go pointed out.

“Pero sa ngayon, ayaw kong pag-usapan muna ang pulitika. Unahin muna nating malampasan ang krisis na dulot ng COVID-19. Bakuna muna bago pulitika (However, for now, I do not want to talk about politics. Let us first overcome the crisis brought by COVID-19. Vaccine first before politics),’’ he emphasized.
