PNP Bicol on full alert following Bicol University blast

CAMP OLA, Albay – The Philippine National Police Bicol (PNP Bicol) is on full alert status after two explosions happened at the compound of Bicol University main campus on Sunday night, October 3.

Police Major Malu Calubaquib, spokesperson of Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) told the Manila Bulletin the alert status is to ensure peace and order in the region.

Calubaquid also added that a thorough investigation has been ordered by PNP Bicol director Police Brigadier General Jonnel Estomo to identify the suspects.

At around 6:30 pm on Sunday, two explosions were heard at the compound of Bicol University main campus – a few meters away from an installed PNP checkpoint near the Albay Governor’s Guest House in Brgy. EM’s Barrio 1 and just in front of Camp General Simeon Ola.

Calubaquib said an empty cartridge of a 40mm grenade launcher was recovered near the blast site.

No one was hurt during the incident.
