P5.6-M shabu seized in Manila drug busts


The Manila Police District (MPD) announced on Tuesday, Oct. 5, the seizure of more than P5.6 million worth of shabu and the arrest of seven persons in buy-bust operations in San Miguel and Tondo districts early this week.

About nine packs of shabu worth around P5 million were confiscated from suspect Nasfira N. Abdulla in an entrapment launched by the MPD Police Station 14 around 8:30 p.m. in San Miguel on Monday, Oct. 4.

Also recovered from Abdulla were a black body bag, a digital weighing scale, and one P500 used as buy-bust money, according to the MPD report.

In another buy-bust operation, members of the Manila Police Station 7 arrested six drug suspects at around 4:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5, on Raxabago St. near corner Juan Luna St. in Tondo district.

The cops recovered from the suspects about 100 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P680,000.

Police identified the suspects as Jonathan C. Balingit, 24; Esmelita D. Tumbagahan, 61; Renalyn B. Silverio, 40; Aldwin A. Castillo, 43; Anna Q. Punzal, 40; and Mark S. Echalar, 42, all residents of Tondo, Manila.

All the apprehended suspects were presented to Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Tuesday afternoon. They will be charged for violation of the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002.a
