Filipino couturier Michael Cinco presents the beauty of metamorphosis in Paris Fashion Week

The impalpable dream continues with his latest collection

Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco wowed the Paris fashion crowd with his latest couture collection for men and women. Dubbed as the “Impalpable Dream of a New Beginning,” the line presents everything a Michael Cinco creation is—exuberant, intricate, and fit for royalty—only this time in a candy-colored palette, making the display sweet and romantic but still quite dramatic.

For his spring-summer couture 2022 line, the Dubai-based couturier looked at the perennial style inspiration, the butterfly and its metamorphosis, to convey a runway show that is filled with springtime joy, hope, and charm.

“From the ordinary caterpillar to the exquisite winged creature of ephemeral beauty, it has become the metaphor for hope and change. It is an emblem of the soul; an allegory for reawakening and triumph of spirit,” the designer said.

Last Oct. 2, 2021, the American Cathedral in Paris was as if it’s like an open garden filled with blooms as Michael’s butterfly-inspired pieces graced the runway. His Swarovski encrusted menswear added a dose of glamor to gents’ easy formal dressing. Ball gowns of different embellishments, from feathers to multicolored stones creating a flora illusion, are simply divine. Ruffles and flounce in different volumes look airy and delicate much like a butterfly’s wings fluttering in the air.

This wasn’t the first time Michael presented a collection in the City of Lights. In 2016, he debuted at the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, where his 30-piece Couture Calado collection, inspired by Spanish Mantilla, garnered a standing ovation.
