CEBU CITY — Some stalwarts of the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) on Tuesday filed their respective Certificates of Candidacy (COCs).
Rachel Marguerite “Cutie” del Mar filed her COC for congressman in Cebu City North District, while Association of Barangay Councils-Cebu City President and Kasambagan Barangay Captain Franklyn Ong filed his COC for vice mayor in the city.
North District Councilors Lea Japson and Joy Augustus Young and South District Councilor Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba also filed their COCs for their reelection bids.

The BOPK will be fielding Margot Osmeña as its candidate for mayor. Margot is the wife of former Cebu City Mayor and BOPK head Tomas Osmeña, who will run for congressman in the south district.
Margot will be facing incumbent Vice Mayor Michael Rama.
Rama’s reported running mate is City Councilor Raymond Garcia.
After filing their COCs, the BOPK stalwarts bared their plans for the should they succeed in their respective bids.
Aside from serving as legislative presiding officer in the City Council, Ong said he intends to spearhead the delivery of basic services in the city.
“Because I know the Mayor will be having her hands very full with all the problems that they have to clean up and all the plans that they have to do for the Cebu City but somebody has to take care of the “house.” We have to help the barangays. I’ve been in the barangay for many years and we know what the problems are. So I think I can help and I can be really effective in addressing all these problems in the 80 barangays in the city,” said Ong.
On the other hand, Del Mar first visited her father’s grave before filing her COC.
The veteran lawmaker Raul del Mar died last year while he was the Cebu City North District Representative.
“We all know that my dad loved Cebu City so much with all his heart and I want to continue to do that and to do more because that’s what my dad wanted. He said that place take my place and I really am looking forward to continuing everything that my dad has done and even possibly, as I said earlier, even do more,” Cutie said.
