‘Lannie’ halts sea trips in Negros Occidental


BACOLOD CITY — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Negros Occidental has suspended sea trips on Monday, due to Tropical Depression “Lannie.”

In an advisory dated Oct.4, trips cancelled in the province were Escalante City, Sagay City, and San Carlos City enroute to Cebu, and vice-versa, Bacolod to Dumangas, Iloilo and vice-versa.

The PCG cited in its advisory, that the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) placed the province under Signal No. 1.

The PCG also prohibited all fishing vessels plying in the area of responsibility to venture at sea.

Meanwhile, the provincial government on Monday has placed all disaster operations centers on red alert due to the tropical depression.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson advised all the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), to heighten their preparedness, and initiate pro-active measures for possible flooding, flashflood, or landslides.
