Artist sculpts VP Leni’s face on a leaf, rallies support for her

A Davao-based leaf artist is using his art to express support to Vice President Leni Robredo after he sculpted her face on a leaf with the words #LetLeniLead.

Leaf artist Jomz Doronila posted on Twitter the image of his artwork.

“I may not be the best leaf artist in town but my ART only belongs to someone who has a HEART. Naiukit ko na din sa dahon ng kapalaran ang ating 17th President (I also sculpted in the leaf the destiny of our 17th President),” he wrote.

Aside from Robredo’s image, the artist also sculpted the words #LetLeniLead, a hashtag that the vice president’s supporters have been using these past months to convince her to run as president.

The post received 101 replies, more than 1,700 retweets, and more than 9,900 likes.

In a separate tweet, Doronila thanked everyone who appreciated his artwork, saying that his followers are free to use the photo “the way you want it to if that’s your way of extending support to our Busy President.”

Robredo has yet to announce her plans for the 2022 polls, but her supporters are hard at work convincing her to run for president as they made the hashtag #LeniforPresident2022 trend on Twitter the past few days.

Her volunteers, led by Team Leni Robredo, asked supporters to make #LeniforPresident2022 trend on the micro-blogging site until she wins as president in next year’s polls.

On Sunday, Oct. 3, the hashtag was at third place of Twitter’s top trending topics in the Philippines.

Medical frontliners who volunteered for Robredo’s programs such as Swab Cab, Bayanihan E-Konsulta, and Vaccine Express also shared how the vice president’s team treated them as they joined their initiatives.

Justin Villaflor, a doctor of medicine as indicated in his Twitter account, said that Robredo treats the medical frontliners as “VIPs (very important persons)” whenever they volunteer to one of her initiatives.

Among the many things they received from the Office of the Vice President (OVP), he said, were shuttle services, five meals per day, COVID antigen testing before they start their duty, and stipend.

“I also get (a) care package from the OVP like fruits and groceries afterward. If we get COVID, her office takes care of our RT-PCR test and sends meals, groceries, and COVID essentials/care package. Imagine if this is done on a national level. #LetLeniLead2022,” he added.

Villaflor posted a photo of himself with Robredo that was taken while the Vice President happened to be around while he was on duty.

His tweet received more than 2,700 retweets, 188 quote tweets, and 12,600 likes. Comments also flooded Villaflor’s tweet with many commenting positively on the way Robredo took care of the medical volunteers.
