Both Erice and Cabochan swore in as new members of Aksyon Demokratiko, the political party of presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso, last Sept. 30.

Erice said that Cabochan is the ideal candidate to succeed him as representative of the 2nd District of Caloocan in terms of qualification.

“Matagal na pinag-aralan ko ‘to, maraming konsiderasyon, dahil sinigurado natin na makakahanap tayo ng kandidatong may kaalaman, karanasan, kakayahan at katapatan (I've studied over this for so long, thought a lot of consideration, because we made sure that we could find a candidate who has knowledge, experience, capability and integrity in serving the country),” Erice said.

“Sa apat na kategorya na ‘to, pasado sa’kin si Jacob Cabochan na maging kahalili ko bilang congressman ng ikalawang distrito ng Caloocan (In these four categories, Jacob Cabochan has passed to become my successor as congressman of the 2nd District of Caloocan),” he added.

The lawmaker said that he prefers younger candidates because they are more equipped to respond to sudden changes in the country, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the threat of its more transmissible Delta variant.

“Mahalaga na binibigyan nating pagkakataon na lumabas ang magagaling na lider ng ating pamahalaan. May preference ako sa batang lider dahil mas bukas sila sa pagbagbago (It is essential to give young leaders a chance to lead in the government because they are more open to changes)," he said.

Cabochan expressed his gratitude to Erice for his continued support.

“Maraming salamat, Cong. Egay Erice sa pormal na pag-endorso sa atin bilang susunod na congressman ng 2nd District ng Caloocan sa darating na halalan (Thank you so much Cong. Egay Erice for formally endorsing me as the next congressman for the 2nd District of Caloocan in the upcoming elections)," Cabochan said.

Cabochan filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for congressman representing the city’s 2nd district on Friday.
