DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T de la Peña said the DOST-Ill through its Provincial Science and Technology (S&T) Center in Tarlac entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Pura LGU for the establishment of the center to benefit mainly the town’s senior citizens.

“Locally planted turmeric and moringa/malunggay plants will be used in the center which will be operated by the Pura Chapter of the Federation of Senior Citizens of the Philippines (FSCAP),” he said during his weekly report on Friday, Oct. 1.

“A series of capacity building seminars will be held for the members of the association especially on production to make sure that products conform with FDA standards.”

The training is expected to be conducted by a local food supplement manufacturer.

“Members of the federation are entitled to a discount when purchasing the said food supplements,” de la Peña said.
