CEBU CITY — Ex-Tourism Secretary Ace Durano has been named the regional president for Central Visayas of the Partido Pilipino sa Pagbabago (PPP), the party that recently nominated Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as its presidential candidate for the 2022 elections.
The announcement of Durano’s appointment as regional head of PPP in Region 7 came a day after the former Cebu Fifth District Representative announced his candidacy for governor in Cebu.
In the appointment paper, signed by PPP founder Leonardo Fernandez, Durano will represent the party in all regional gatherings and functions.
Durano will act as PPP’s chief administrator and official spokesperson of the region and will have the authority to approve plans and to disburse funds of the chapter.
Durano will also be representing the region in the national directorate and will set the agenda during regional and general membership meetings.
“We will work closely with our partners in Central Visayas and do our best to realize the vision of the party,” said Durano.
PPP, a national party recognized by the Comelec, held its national convention on Sept. 28, 2021 in Tagum City, where it officially nominated Mayor Duterte-Carpio as its standard bearer for the 2022 presidential elections.
Composed of multi-sectoral groups and coalitions, the PPP also backed President Rodrigo Duterte’s bid in the 2016 elections.
