Celebrities, netizens seek justice for death of Christine Dacera

Netizens took to Twitter Monday night, January 5, to seek justice for the death of a flight attendant who was allegedly sexually abused while celebrating New Year's Day with friends in Makati City.

Celebrities slammed suspects in the murder of flight attendant Christine Angelica Dacera, 23, who was found unconscious in an empty bathtub of a hotel room. 

On Twitter, netizens uploaded photos of the suspects in the rape-slay case. Three suspects are now in police custody as of Jan. 4, reports said.

"It is never the clothes, never the drinks — never the victim, period. it is always, ALWAYS, the rapist’s fault. how many more times do we have to hammer this home for it to stick in your thick skulls, please??!??! said Kakie Pangilinan, daughter of Sharon Cuneta and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.

Kapamilya star Bianca Gonzales said: Rape happens because of rapists, not because anyone "asked for it."

Social media influencer Kerwin King commented: "Rape happens because of rapists. Stop shaming and blaming women for wearing what they want. For being themselves. No is NO. Being drunk is never an invitation or an opportunity for you to harass and take advantage of someone. BLAME RAPISTS. NOT VICTIMS. #JusticeForChristineDacera"

Dacera was born and raised in General Santos City.

In 2017, Dacera graduated cum laude at the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao Davao City where she earned her bachelor's degree in communication and media studies. The same year, she became a member of the university's The Honor Society of the Phi Kappa Phi.

In May 2019, she started working as flight attendant for the Philippine Airlines. She had her last flight as PAL stewardess on December 28, 2020.

Dacera was also a finalist in the Mutya ng Davao 2019 beauty pageant.
