Kaiju Global Academy now under construction

Filipino basketball wunderkind Kai Sotto paid a visit to the construction site of his very own Kaiju Global Academy in Hamilton, Ohio.

Sotto, along with the site workers and crewmen, took the time for an ocular inspection at the Spooky Nook Sports Champion Mill Complex, the largest indoor sports complex in North America, where the Kaiju Global Academy will be erected.

"This right here is a dream coming true," wrote the 7-foot-3 Sotto on Instagram Friday, as sports personalities Dani Ravena and Gretchen Ho cheered for the 18-year-old prodigy.

Sotto considered the golden opportunity to create a world-class facility for athletes around the world as a "blessing," recalling how he started picking up the basketball on dirt and concrete courts in the Philippines.

The former Ateneo standout assured to provide "holistic development" for the future members with the help of trainers and coaches not only with their skills but also with leadership.

"It will be an amazing community; the Kaiju Way will be our way of life!" added Sotto, who is set to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas in the third window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers in Doha, Qatar.

Sotto's homecoming hit a major roadblock since the country withdrew its hosting in Clark, Pampanga as the government imposed strict travel restrictions due to the new COVID-19 variant.

Sotto is the only player yet to arrive as the Gilas Pilipinas is currently holed up training at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna under a bubble setup.
