The Philippine National Volleyball Federation Inc. plans to set up 10 to 12 commissions to tackle every program in its association following Monday’s election of officers.
Newly elected president Ramon “Tats” Suzara said his first mandate is to have all stakeholders across the country join in these commissions for the improvement of the sport.
Among those being eyed to have are the events commission tasked in the country’s hosting of tournaments, the national team commission in charge of the composition of teams in various competitions, the referees commission, and the coaches’ commission, to name a few.
“I encourage all stakeholders nationwide to be part of these commissions and contribute their expertise for the good of volleyball in the country,” Suzara said.
Suzara, who has strong relations to the international volleyball federation (FIVB), won the presidency unopposed, as well as chairman Ariel Paredes (chairman), Arnel Hajan (vice president), Don Caringal (secretary-general), Rod Roque (treasurer), Yul Benoso (auditor) and board members Ricky Palou, Tony Boy Liao, Charo Soriano, Carmela Gamboa, Fr. Vic Calvo OP, Karl Chan and Atty Wharton Chan.
Results of the elections will be presented to the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) executive board and eventually, the General Assembly, although the POC will immediately forward this to the FIVB in response to its request last year.
The FIVB, meanwhile, will present this during the World Volleyball Congress that will be held online on Feb. 5 to 7.
The election serves as a big step in securing recognition from the FIVB.
