EXO's D.O. officially discharged from military today: #PrinceKyungsooReturns

K-pop boy band EXO member D.O., 28, has been officially discharged from the military on Jan. 25 after serving for nearly 19 months.

Fans celebrated his return by trending the hashtag #PrinceKyungsooReturns on Twitter. Kyung-soo is his real name.

D.O. took his last vacation from the military last December and finished his military service on Jan. 25 without returning to his unit in compliance with the measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

He enlisted on July 1, 2019 and underwent basic military training for five weeks. He then served as an army cook at the Capital Mechanized Infantry Division of the Korean Army.

D.O. also participated in the military musical “Return: The Promise of the Day” commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Korean War.

Following his discharge, he will star in the movie “The Moon” to be directed by Kim Yong-hwa who helmed the movie “Along with the Gods.”

To mark D.O.’s return, SM Entertainment will issue a “welcome back set” consisting of a necklace and tag key ring that fans can buy.

D.O. became the second EXO member to finish military service. Xiumin was officially discharged from the military last Dec. 6. Suho and Chen are currently serving in the military and are set to be discharged in 2022.
