A British woman got one of the biggest surprises in her life when Gwyneth Paltrow's vagina-scented candle exploded in her home North London recently.

In a report by vanityfair.com, Jody Thompson of Kilburn, North London told The Sun that she got the celebrity-inspired candle as a prize in an online quiz.

But Thompson said that she was shocked when the candle wrought havoc when she lit it.

"The candle exploded and emitted huge flames, with bits flying everywhere. I've never seen anything like it. The whole thing was ablaze and it was too hot to touch," she said.

Thompson said that she and her partner David Snow immediately threw the candle out the front door.

"It could have burned the place down. It was scary at the time, but funny looking back that Gwyneth's vagina candle exploded in my room," she added.

In 2020, Paltrow debuted her US$75 vagina candle in collaboration with Heretic.

The Oscar-winning star said that the candle "smells like my orgasm."

Report said that the scent of the vagina candle is composed of geranium, citrusy, bergamot, and cedar absolutes juxtaposed with Damask rose and ambrette seed.

Paltrow said that the scented candle is meant to be "funny, gorgeous, sexy and beautifully unexpected."
