Discovery Hospitality brings clean drinking water to Angat, Bulacan
Launched in partnership with Waves for Water Philippines, ‘Together for Water’ is now on its fourth year
Despite being in an industry hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic, Discovery Hospitality Corporation (DHC) celebrated the season of giving with the residents of Laog, Angat, Bulacan, who were severely devastated by the Typhoon Ulysses.
In its continuing commitment to provide clean drinking water to underprivileged communities, DHC executives together with Waves for Water Philippines, distributed five water filters that will positively impact 500 people for up to five years. The residents of the riverside community cross the river for potable drinking water. The area was heavily flooded during the onslaught of the typhoon, and houses made of light materials were washed away. This made access to drinking water even more problematic.
“No sector can heal on its own. We have to help each other and work together as one to be able to move forward. During these difficult times, we have to focus on the brighter side and be a blessing to those who need it most,” says Discovery World Corporation’s president and DHC chief operating officer Jose C. Parreno.
“As one of our longest running partnerships, working with Discovery Hospitality has paved the way for us to reach more underserved areas throughout the Philippines,” says Waves for Water Philippines country director Jenica Dizon. “Having access to clean water opens up more opportunities for communities and improves health and overall well-being.”

Forged in 2016, the partnership between DHC and Waves for Water resulted in its project #TogetherForWater, with an initial outreach program for the Agtas in Nagtipunan, Quirino. Located in the mountainous northern part of the Philippines, the local indigenous community finally gained access to clean water via 10 water filters, potentially benefiting close to 1,000 people.
Previously, Discovery Shores Boracay donated 60 water filters to 120 Ati households in Sitio Carla in Caticlan, while Club Paradise Palawan contributed to the Tagbanua Tribe in the remote island of Sitio Camanga, Coron, Palawan. Discovery Primea likewise provided 30 water filters and two rainwater harvesting systems for the Dumagat Tribe in Bulacan. Discovery Suites Manila and Discovery Country Suites Tagaytay, on the other hand, teamed up to climb the steep mountains of the north to donate 60 water filters to the Aeta Tribe in Sitio Yangka, Capas, Tarlac. https://tinyurl.com/togetherforwater.
