Vivian Velez blasts Meralco over high electricity bill

Film Academy of the Philippines director and actress Vivian Velez blasted the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) on social media over supposedly high electricity bill she received.

On Facebook January 18, Velez slammed the alleged inaction Meralco to her concern.

Her full post:

"I am not the only one at hindi kami tanga.

"This is my MERALCO bill. I paid my April, May, June bill during lockdown. But in July, MERALCO billed me 3x my usual consumption. I have complained but they keep on giving me reasons beyond my comprehension - not that am stupid not to understand but hey, just look at the graph in the photo.

"They still insist on me paying a one month July bill of 46k. Makatarungan ba?

"MERALCO broke it down to a 3 month payment scheme. I can pay for this all at once (46k), but should I?

"ERC is mandated to protect us, consumers or are they in effect, power brokers set up to protect the ones that they should regulate? Nagtatanong lang because I cannot understand their inaction to all these complaints. #MeralcoBILLS #MeralcoMagic #HindiKamiTanga"
