Cebu City encourages public to start year right by planting, offers free seedlings

Cebu City, through an executive memorandum from mayor Edgar Labella, encouraged the public to start 2021 right by planting varieties of ornamentals, forest and fruit trees, herbal plants, others at backyards and spaces around the house as the City Agriculture Department (CAD) offers free seedlings and planting materials.

According to CAD these variety of seedlings can be obtained from its office at the North Reclamation Area (NRA), Block 27, Barangay Mabolo near the Cebu City Quarantine Center.

There are available forest and fruit Trees, ornamental, herbal and Vegetable Seedlings that the public can availed of with the following steps to follow:

Step 1: Those interested must message via the Facebook page of the Cebu City Agriculture Department-CAD (http://bit.ly/358RbMC) and tell them how many seedlings/plant materials one needs. CAD can offer for free maximum of 20 seedlings per specie/catergory.

Step 2: Call 255-5781 to follow up one’s request for the CAD to prepare the seedlings for pick up.

Step 3: Visit the NRA Nursery to pick up your requested seedlings.

The nursery is open from Monday to Friday at 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and the plants at the nursery are available until supply lasts.
