'Baguio in My Pocket' app to facilitate COVID-19 vaccination

BAGUIO CITY – “Baguio in My Pocket (BIMP) will now serve as database for those who wish to be inoculated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in this city.

This was disclosed by Mayor Benjamin Magalong, who said “those who are registered in BIMP will be given priority in receiving vaccine shots”.

BIMP is a free smart phone application with several features aimed at promoting an e-government ecosystem.

Last January 11, a "No QR Code, No Entry" policy was strictly implemented for all officials and employees of the city government, and for transacting clients, entering the Baguio City Hall.

"Barangay empowerment is a key element of BIMP as we will require the registration of all constituents at the barangay level and ensure the availability of accurate records of all residents. The data will be available to the Sangguniang Barangay thereby enabling them to deliver basic services to everyone," Magalong said.

BIMP also promotes the concept of “bayanihan” among the different barangays and puroks in the city through the use of citizen mobile application.

The application also allows for the immediate dissemination of public announcements during emergencies; create job opportunities through the concept of market-to-home delivery; and efficiently and immediately extend public service to all registered citizens of the city in times of crisis and disasters.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, the QR Code generated for every registrant will hasten contract tracing efforts of the city.

Recently, the city government announced that assessment of real property tax and business permit fees will be available online through the BIMP to avoid crowding at the City Hall as well as comply with the Ease of Doing Business Law in the country.

The citizen database will help city officials in coming up with policies responsive to the needs of all sectors particularly the vulnerable elderlies, children, persons with disabilities among others.

Additional features to be added to the BIMP soon are online payment of government transactions or cashless payments, online marketplace, and riders’ app, among others.

Citizen registration for the app started in September after a memorandum of agreement was signed in July between the city and Pasig-based Information Technology Business Solutions (ITBS) Corporation, the app’s provider.

Individual may register to www.baguioinmypocket.ph, click on the “Citizen Portal App” for android users or click on “Mobile web” for IOS users to register. After Downloading, click “Install update” to update the app (For Android User). Register and Accept terms and conditions. Your unique QR code should be available after logging in to your newly registered profile. You may screenshot or print your QR Code.
