Omega banks on chemistry as M2 unfurls in Singapore

There's no doubt in Smart Omega coach Steven "DaleDalus" Vitug's mind that their solid chemistry will serve as their strongest weapon in the M2 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship in Singapore.

DaleDalus, also the coach of the 2019 SEA Games gold-winning team Sibol, said that his Omega squad has been together for one and a half years, fighting alongside each other in countless battles, win or lose.  

"Ang advantage namin sa ibang team is 'yung matagal na kami magkakasama," the 24-year-old mentor told the Manila Bulletin.

"Maraming na kaming na-experience na tournaments win or lose at solid 'yung bonding namin outside the game," he added.

Omega is set to slug it out against 11 other teams for the coveted title in the biggest Mobile Legends tourney in the world and the $140,000 (over P6.7 million) lion's share of the $300,000 (over {14.4 million) prize pool.

Bannered by SEA Games gold medalists Jeniel "Haze" Bata-anon and Kenneth Jiane "Kenji" Villa along with local stars Salic "Hadjizy" Imam, Adrian "Toshi" Bacallo, EJ "Heath" Esperanza and Jankurt "KurtTzy" Matira, the MPL-Philippines Season 6 runner-up is in Group B with Malaysia/Singapore king Todak and Impunity KH of Cambodia.

The Smart-back squad starts its M2 campaign right in the opening match against Todak at 12 p.m. on Monday followed by Impunity at 6 p.m.

DaleDalus bared that they prepared more on the mental side of the game as they head to their biggest competition yet.

"Hinanda talaga namin sa M2 'yung mga sarili namin kasi nandito 'yung kaba at pressure. Basta kung ano lang pina-practice namin araw-araw 'yun lang gagawin namin," said DaleDalus, who also revealed that they have an ace up their sleeves.

"May konting pocket strat kami kahit medyo kabado since first time namin sa international tournament."

Obviously, Omega is eyeing to go all the way to the grand finals and DaleDalus is hoping they will face MPL-PH champion Bren Esports for the world title.

"Sana sila makatapat namin sa finals kung papalarin para parehas Pinoy ang maglalaban para sa (world) championship."
