DTI consolidating vaccine orders from MSMEs

The Department of Trade and Industry is consolidating a list of micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that may also want to order COVID-19 vaccines.

DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez said National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer and Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. has requested DTI on Monday to consolidate MSMEs for inclusion in the government’s volume order procurement.

Lopez said the DTI is still in the process of drawing up the template and guidelines for the MSMEs. DTI is talking to different groups to consolidate their orders.

This developed as the private sector through the donation drive “A Dose of Hope” already completed the second batch of vaccine procurement for a total of 17 million doses from Astra-Zeneca Pharmaceuticals Philippines, Inc. The first wave of the “A Dose of Hope” donation drive generated 35 conglomerates and big business while the second wave attracted 300 private sector donors, mostly comprising small and medium enterprises. The private sector donation will all go to the national government but the donor will be allowed a 50 percent allocation for their employees and the rest of 50 percent for government priorities.
