Concert producer Joed Serrano returns as film producer

Concert producer Joed Serrano is back in business as a film producer.

But Joed said he doesn't want to be known as a producer of bold films. He's out to prove he can produce reality movies. Flicks that can inspire and teach people.

"I'm here to produce reality movies, films that can inspire and teach people, to be better. Stories in which viewers can relate and apply to their daily lives. Bold films are different from art, true to life storytelling," said Joed in an exclusive online interview recently.

Joed is the producer of the flick "Anak ng Macho Dancer" which will have its world premiere on Jan. 30.

Before he returned to producing movies, he produced concerts of music giants James Ingram, Celine Dion, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Psy, The Jonas Brothers, and Tom Jones. Locally, there's Vice Ganda, Sharon Cuneta, Alden Richards, etc. 

Asked why he focused on films these days, Joed said: "Since concerts are still on hold because of the protocols of each country with regards to COVID, while waiting, I need to get out of the box and be creative to survive in this pandemic time. That's why I thought of producing films because even without the cinemas, there are so many venues nowadays with the new technology we have."

Joed spoke highly of Joel Lamangan, director of the movie "Anak ng Macho Dancer."

"Working with the best Joel Lamangan is a lifetime experience. A treasure to keep forever. He is my resident director for Godfather Productions. He is our Lino Brocka in this lifetime."   

Joed also praised Sean de Guzman, one of the lead stars of the same movie. "Sean de Guzman is a very talented young actor. Given the right opportunity after this 'Anak Ng Macho Dancer.' He can be another Allan Paule in the making. A great  actor indeed."

Some of his upcoming movie projects include: "The Loves, The Miracles and Life of Joed," "Kontrabida" with Nora Aunor; "Burlesk," "Banat: A true- to-life police story;" "Si Totoy Mola Ngayon;" Matinee Idol; "Macho Gay;" "Ser," "Mga Batang Tondo;" "My Bestfriend's Husband," etc.
