World-class NAIA Terminal 2一something we could all look forward to

An airport is just that, a place to pass through to go to a plane that would take us to our intended destinations. But with travel far from being normal, we are excited with any travel-related updates, especially with the announcement from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) that the NAIA Terminal 2 rehab is “getting closer and closer to completion.”

In a DOTr post, it announced that the rehabilitation project for the NAIA Terminal 2 has “already reached 98.1 percent overall progress rate, as of Jan. 11, 2021.”

“The project involves major works to improve the terminal, in regard to its architectural, functional, and operational requirement, which will further enhance the terminal’s passenger movement, both for international and domestic flights, as well as the departure and arrival, the statement said.

These developments would surely whet the appetite of anyone yearning to step foot in an airport after more than 300 days of “traveling at home.” It’s not all good news, however, as we can’t see its final look upon its completion by the end of January (unless you have that urgent life-changing trip). We accept the reality that it would take some time before air travel truly normalizes.
