Davao City posts 28 new cases, four COVID-19 deaths

DAVAO CITY - The Department of Health (DOH) Davao Center for Health Development reported 63 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the region, with 28 coming from Davao City, on Thursday, January 14.

Based on the agency’s regional daily case bulletin, 20 new cases were also reported in Davao del Norte, 12 in Davao Oriental, two in Davao del Sur, and one in Davao de Oro.

As such, Davao City continued to have the most number of active cases with 1,340, Davao del Norte, 537; Davao del Sur, 188; Davao de Oro, 122; Davao Oriental, 82; and Davao Occidental, 37.

The record showed that 73.3 percent of the active cases, or 1,691, was asymptomatic, 19.7 percent, or 454, comprised mild cases, 6.8 percent, or 156, severe cases; and five were critical.

Meanwhile, the region also recorded 78 recoveries bringing the total number of those who recovered to 11,583.

The DOH said among the new recoveries, 59 were from Davao City, 13 were from Davao del Norte, three from Davao del Sur, and three from Davao Occidental.

Four fatalities in Davao City were also recorded on Thursday. Davao region currently has a total of 594 deaths due to COVID-19. Davao City has recorded the most number of fatalities with 472 deaths, followed by Davao del Norte with 54.
