Cinemalaya 2021 is now accepting entries for short film category

Hey filmmakers and aspiring filmmakers, here’s what you need to know

Nothing could beat the experience given by feature film. Viewers can see every twist and turn of the plot, discover more about the character, and can really dive into the reality present in the film. But in some cases, a short running is enough to convey all those.

For its 17th edition, the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival is now open for submission of entries  for its Short Film Category. According to the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), interested Filipino filmmakers must submit their application on or before March 5, 6 p.m., to the Film, Broadcast, and New Media Division (FBNMD) at CCP in Pasay City.

Their entries must be in MP4 format, with violator/watermark, and properly labeled with title, production company, address, and contact number, production date, directors name, and running time.

The requirements also include a completed entry form, a resume and 2x2 photos of the filmmakers, an English synopsis of the film. 

The short film submission should not exceed 20 minutes running time (inclusive of the credits) and must have been produced within the period of Feb. 29, 2020 to March 5, 2021.

Entries can be submitted through the online portal. Just click here, fill out the entry form, and upload your film and filmmaker’s profile.

For offline submission, film entry must be submitted in a USB. Entries must be submitted in a long brown envelope properly labeled with the proponent’s name, title of film, and contact details.

The 10 short feature finalists will be screened online during the 2021 Cinemalaya Film Festival from Aug. 6 to 15.
