Omega, Cignal secure lower division spots in DPC-SEA Regional League

Smart Omega and Cignal Ultra came up with successful campaigns in the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC)-Southeast Asia Closed Qualifier Stage 2 to grab their spots in the lower division of the upcoming Regional League.

Omega, which is composed of four players from Adroit Esports which snared the gold in last year's SEA Games, ruled the six-team Group B with eight points on an impressive record of three series victories and two draws without a defeat. 

The Smart-backed squad took a swift 2-0 sweep of Team SMG led by Filipino support Michael "ninjaboogie" Ross and Malaysian veteran Chai "Mushi" Yee Fung in the final day on Sunday. 

Behind midlaner Mc Nicholson "Mac" Villanueva's Batrider and offlaner Jun "Bok" Kanehara's Legion Commander, Omega utterly crushed SMG in Game 1, 40-13, in just 23 minutes. 

It was a tightly-fought Game 2 but Justine "Tino" Grimaldo's Morphling took charge in the 4-0 exchange in the final clash for a 19-15 win in 30 minutes. 

Omega then settled for a 1-1 draw with Yangon Galacticos to wrap up its campaign. 

On the other hand, Ultra finished third in Group A with five points on a 1-3-1 series win-draw-loss slate and was able to qualify for the lower division despite the seemingly sudden departure of 10k MMR carry Denz Daryll "Abat" Anedez. 

Abat posted LFT (looking for team) on his Facebook page a few hours after the reigning The Nationals champions' 1-1 draw with Team Veteran last Saturday night wherein they lost Game 2 and the 21-year-old carry quickly disconnected.

He never played for Ultra from then on and was replaced by coach Jae "Jae" Paulo. The team has yet to release a statement regarding the issue. 

Joining Ultra and Omega in the lower division are Galaxy Racer, HOYO, Assault, Yangon Galacticos and Lilgun.
