Ellen Adarna details how she overcame depression

In a three-part series of videos entitled: "How I got  my sh*t together" on Instagram TV (IGTV), actress Ellen Adarna had broken the ice regarding her past experiences and ways of coping up with depression.

Ellen started things off by sharing about her past experiences that triggered not one, but three mental illnesses to occur.

"I was diagnosed with anxiety, depression and PTSD."

"The reason why I had these problems was because of the death of my father, unhealthy relationships and I just gave birth at the time."

"And all these things happened together all at once…" she added.

Ellen said that she was lost, and that she did not know who she was at the time topped up by all the changes brought up by motherhood she lost her confidence, and she broke down.

"It was like back to zero."

"During my depressive state, I remember I was sleeping a lot. I was always tired, that time felt like a blur because most of what I remeber was that I was always tired and sleepy."

Ellen claimed that the pills did make her lose the anxiety and sadness but it doesn't instantly make someone happy.

"The pills were just to mask the problems, it wasn't to make it go away… it's just a layer, a filter."

The same goes for counselling.

"The talks helped a bit, it was kinda good to vent out things to talk to someone but at the time, I wasn't taking action to fix or go to the bottom of what really caused it."

Her breakthrough came when she enrolled in a program developed to tackle and fix her mental state wherein she does physical activities, meditation, journaling and more.
