The Quezon City government has topped the list of Local government Units (LGUs) nationwide in terms of locally sourced revenues(LSR) during fiscal year 2019.
According to the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) of the Department of Finance (DOF), Quezon City collected nominal LSRs of P16.95 billion in 2019.
The tax income came from real property tax, business tax, other taxes, and non-tax revenues.
City Treasurer Ed Villanueva said that good governance implemented by Mayor Joy Belmonte helped the city to top the list.
“Mayor Belmonte’s good governance is the key to this enormous success, which then earns the unwavering support of businesses and the public,” said Villanueva, adding “they trust where their money goes and how it is disbursed.” “Nagpapasalamat tayo sa suporta at tiwala ng taxpayers sa ating administrasyon. Sinisiguro nating lahat ng nakolektang buwis ay ating ginagamit para lalong paigtingin at palawakin ang serbisyo para sa lahat ng QCitizens,”Mayor Belmonte said.
Villanueva said that the city is most likely to get the same for the fiscal year 2020 and 2021 as the city “continues to hit and even surpass its own tax collection target.”
The staggered payment scheme for underdeclared and undeclared business taxes encouraged businessmen to settle their taxes.
