Makati City Mayor Abby Binay on Thursday urged her constituents to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as the country continues its fight against the disease and its more contagious Delta variant.
"Tulungan nating bumalik sa dati ang Makati. Simulan natin sa pagbabakuna bilang proteksyon sa ating sarili, kapamilya, katrabaho at sa bawa't isa (Let's all work together in returning Makati back to normal. Let's start by getting ourselves vaccinated as protection to ourselves, family, workmates, and for each other)," Binay said.
According to the local government unit (LGU), the city has already deployed 639,225 vaccines as of Sept. 28. A total of 348,128 residents received their first dose and 245,832 were fully vaccinated.
The LGU assured the public that it will continue to improve its vaccination efforts and information programs to convince the unvaccinated individuals to get their jabs not just to protect themselves but also their loved ones and the public.
As of Sept. 29, Makati City has 1,772 active COVID-19 cases, 39,400 recoveries, and 929 deaths.
