Duterte made the statement as he led the inauguration of the Bonifacio Global City (BGC)-Ortigas Center Link Road Project in Taguig City on Thursday, September 30.

In his speech, President Duterte lauded the said project, noting it came at a time when the country is still gradually recovering from the economic impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and safely revitalizing economic activities.

"Indeed, this achievement will provide substantial and long-lasting benefits to various businesses, motorists, and ordinary Filipino," he said.

Duterte assured the public that he has not forgotten his promise of infrastructure development, enjoining the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and other government agencies to synergize their efforts towards the realization of other projects under the Build, Build, Build Program.

"With less than a year left in my term, we cannot afford to waste time and resources as we fulfill our promise of better and more responsive public works across the country," he said.

"To my fellow Filipinos, let me assure you of my administration’s unrelenting commitment to pursue a more comfortable life for every Filipino through safe and reliable infrastructure that will improve mobility and productivity," he added.

He reiterated that no Filipino will be left behind as "we steadfastly and collectively work towards a stronger and more progressive nation."

"Let me assure you of this commitment until the end of my term," he said.

According to the President, the BGC-Ortigas Center Link Road is vital in fully achieving safe, time-efficient, and dignified travel among motorists in Metro Manila and its surrounding areas.

The said project will benefit motorists between the business districts of BGC and Ortigas Center and is expected to reduce travel time to 12 minutes.

It is also projected to help decongest traffic volume in Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and C-5 Road by 20 percent.

On June 12, 2021, Phase 1 of the road link project known as the "Kalayaan Bridge" was opened to the public and is now connecting Barangay Sta. Monica in Pasig City and Kalayaan Avenue in Makati City.
