DLSU student wins Young Global Changemakers Award 2021


A De La Salle University (DLSU) student was honored with the Youth Global Changemakers Award 2021 by the Youth Empowerment Facilitation (YEF) Global.

Emmanuel Mirus Ponon was recognized as the Rising Impact Maker for promoting No Poverty, Quality Education, and Partnership for the Goals.

Ponon is among the 17 Young Changemakers of 14 countries who have been recognized for acting as positive change catalysts in their local community and for their outstanding contributions towards advancing the 2030 agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

In 2019, Ponon started Youth Advocates for the Philippines to break down opportunity barriers for the youth and other disadvantaged sectors using development initiatives with inclusion, innovation, and empowerment.

He also founded the Global Youth Advocates Network (GYAN) and ASEAN Youth Advocates Network (AYAN) in 2020.

The 2021 YGC Award attracted over 500 nominees from over 47 countries around the world.

The London-based social initiative celebrates young individuals who inspired change through tangible action for the SDG.
