Among Manila’s high society, Puey Quinones is known as a master couturier, producing fashion pieces that go beyond one’s imagination. And after making bridal dreams come true with his Coco Melody atelier in Los Angeles and bringing it to Manila in 2019, and crafting protective gears for the medical frontliners during the height of the pandemic, as well as stylish one for fashion savants with his “Fashion for Protection,” the Samar-born fashion designer adds to his repertoire the title of being a shoe designer.
Puey collaborates with Los Angeles-based shoe label Lenny Lu and presents fall-winter 2021 must-wear pumps with “The Sexiest Heels” collection. Launched last Sept. 23, 2021, the collection, with its play on soft and sleek, dainty and edgy, invites every woman to ditch the quarantine flats for a while and rediscover the magic of heels once again.
One of its standout pieces is a pair of gold and red pointed-toe shoes, with a name that will make you think of the ultimate blonde bombshell, Marilyn. Playful is the Liza with its metallic embellishments and feathers. The Cocoon and Pia mules present an elegant and artsy vibe. While the Lauren heels and Roz mesh boots are definitely look-at-me pieces with their rows of bows.
“I am beyond excited and happy to share with you guys this dream,” Puey says. “I still remember when I was a kid and I had to beg my parents to buy shoes for me but unfortunately we couldn’t afford it. I have to borrow or wait for my relatives to give me shoes. And here I am, designing shoes. I can finally tell my mother not to worry about her shoes because I can make one in any color and design. I’m very grateful for this opportunity.”
