Mayor Isko officially named Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer in 2022 elections

The Aksyon Demokratiko party officially named Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso as its presidential candidate in the 2022 elections.

Aksyon Demokratiko chairperson emeritus Sonia Roco nominated Domagoso as the party's standard bearer during a virtual party convention on Monday afternoon, Sept. 27.

Domagoso, who announced his presidential bid last Sept. 22, accepted the nomination.

His running mate, Dr. Willie Ong, a cardiologist and social media personality, also formally accepted the nomination to run as the party's vice presidential candidate in the upcoming polls.

Sumira Gutoc and Carl Balita also accepted their nomination as senatorial bets under the Aksyon Demokratiko party.

Domagoso said during the party's oath-taking ceremony that he is optimistic that more candidates will join Aksyon Demokratiko before and after the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (CoCs).

"Tingin ko dadami pa (I think there will be more). I am very optimistic. Ayoko lang talagang pangunahan sila (I don't want to be ahead of their decision). We're expecting before, we're expecting after the filing. Kasi nga ang gusto natin kahit saan kayo napapabilang basta ang bilang natin para sa tao, call ako (Because that's what we want, though you are affiliated with other groups, as long as our number is for the people, I'm in)," he said.
